Give and Grow Back for 2026!
Support the Society and use our Give and Grow BigYellowBag code (CHS2026) when ordering from Eagle Lake Turf Farms & Landscape Supply. You save and we earn $10 with your support!
Did you know that fall is the perfect time to add compost and mulch to your garden? It is also a good time to top dress lawns and garden beds so that they are ready for spring. These products are available in a BigYellowBag, so be sure to us CHS2026 when you order. Once you have emptied your bag, you can return it to our BYB Depot for collection by Eagle Lake Turf Farms and Landscape Supply.
Depot is Open!
The BYB Depot is up and ready to collect your bags. The new location is at the east end of the first parking lot (across from the pool) at the Silver Springs Community Association. The address is 5720 Silver Ridge Drive NW. Please fold your empty bag and place it in the collection bag. Thanks!
Thank You!
We have already collected 243 bags.
The 2025 Give and Grow code raised $1,680.00 for the Society. That is an increase of $320 over last year, meaning the code was used 32 more times. Thank you to Eagle Lake Turf Farms and Landscape Supply for having this program, and thank you to everyone who used the code when ordering their BigYellowBag! You saved $5, we received $10, and our corporate member’s local business was supported. It’s a win-win-win! Thank you!
We collected a total of 356 BYB during the 2025 season. Slight 20 more bags than last year, even though we closed the depot a month early. Thank you to everyone who used the the depot. It has help Eagle Lake Turf Farm & Landscape Supply and the Calgary Horticultural Society divert those pages from the landfill.
We plan to reopen the BYB depot on Earth Day, April 22, 2026. Watch this page for an opening announcement and a new Give and Grow code.
Why do we host a BigYellowBag®depot?
Did you know that BigYellowBags® are not recyclable in The City of Calgary blue bin? Don’t send this bulky bag to the landfill, return it to Eagle Lake Turf Farm & Landscape Supply (Eagle Lake), the local licensee. The bags can be returned to their location 285177 Frontier Road, Rocky View County or, better, the bag depot at the Calgary Horticultural Society depot.
By returning your BigYellowBag®, like our partner on this initiative, Eagle Lake, you are supporting the Society’s value of “Work with our environment to minimize our footprint”.
Thank you, gardeners
Thank you!
