Who We Are
Welcome to the Community Gardens page of the
Calgary Horticultural Society. Did you know this
program has been in place for sixteen years? Indeed the Soceity has
worked hard to:
strengthen and promote community gardening in
Calgary by creating a network of resources, expertise and
collaborative connections to provide start-up assistance for new
gardens and ongoing support for established gardens. When we
started 16 years ago, there were less than 11 groups considering
gardening; now there are more than 164 community gardens on public
and private land.
We have been busy lately doing strategic planning and have
rebuilt our team. Community Gardens is currently funded and
supported by The City of Calgary Park Department, RBC Blue Water
Grant and TD Friends of the Environment and donations from the
community. Watch us. Join us. There is so much going on in
gardening in Calgary. it is so exciting.
