Volunteering with the Calgary Horticultural Society is a great way to have fun, learn new skills and meet new people. You will find a friendly social atmosphere at our volunteer events, and will be surrounded by those who have a similar interest in gardening.
Volunteers play an integral role at the Society. Most volunteers are recruited from the membership however individuals not yet members may also volunteer in select roles.
It is the commitment of our dedicated volunteers that provide all the programs and services currently available to our membership.
The amount of volunteer time required depends on the specific role involved and the level of commitment the volunteer is willing to give. Positions are classified as:
- Casual Event Assistance, typically a 4 hour shift on a per-event basis.
- Ongoing Casual, typically once a week or one day a month as required.
- Regular commitment on a specific project, typically 4 - 16 hours per month
VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION SESSIONS
Orientation sessions are designed to provide new and existing volunteers with up to date information about the Society, its organizational structure, its various committees, events and programs, as well as review current volunteer openings. 2008 GARDEN SHOW
It is that time of year when recruitment starts for the April Garden Show. This year's show takes place April 18, 19, & 20. Volunteer shifts are four hours long, and all volunteers have free access to the show throughout the weekend. Also this year, each volunteer will receive a special T-shirt to celebrate the Society's 100th Anniversary.
