Michelle Edworthy (Course coordinator, Sustainable gardening, Weeds)

Michelle Edworthy is a passionate outdoors-woman who loves to grow her own food. She has an undergraduate degree from UBC in Agricultural Ecology and a permaculture design certificate from Verge Permaculture. She is an outdoor educator and has coordinated a number of programs including the Grounds for Change program that helps schools build and teach in native plant/food gardens.

Sandra Pinto (Plant ID)

Sandra Pinto is a self-confessed tree hugger. This is why she enjoys teaching about them and their smaller cousins (shrubs). Sandra is a Montessori teacher by profession and switched to indulge in her passion for gardening by running her own business for the past 10 years. She has worked at the Calgary zoo for 25 years as a docent and later as a Master Gardener.

Adrian Buckley (Food Forests)

Adrian Buckley has a Bachelor's of Community Design and completed a Permaculture Design Certificate in 2009. Before reGenerate Design, Adrian founded and operated Big Sky Permaculture, where he taught courses in permaculture design, and has extensive experience implementing over 30 ecological design and build projects in Calgary and surrounding areas. Adrian started and directs the Calgary Harvest project, which aims at bringing people together to harvest local unused fruit from registered trees in Calgary.

Glynn Wright (Climate)

Glynn Wright received his Honours degree in geology at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, and emigrated to Calgary where he pursued a career in the oil and gas industry, including various directors roles in local and national societies. He graduated in the spring of 2002 from his Master Gardener course given by the Calgary Zoo. Since that time he has been acting as a consultant on gardening in and around Calgary (Scarboro Garden Design). He volunteers at the Calgary Horticultural Society where he was President in 2005/2006, and focuses now on writing articles for them: he contributes regularly to his community newsletter and recently became a member of FoRRGS (Friends of the Reader Rock Garden Society).

Elaine Rude (Non-insect pests, herbs, propagation)

Elaine Rude graduated from the first MG class in 1997. Since that time she has operated an organic market garden growing and selling produce and flowers at her local farmer's market and started Paintbrush Garden Design and Consulting. She also teaches courses/workshops and writes on a variety of horticultural topics.

Patricia Stooke (Morphology and Physiology)

Patricia Stooke, B.Sc., M.Sc., is a plant biologist with a Bachelor of Science degree in botany and a Master of Science degree in plant physiology. In 2015, she completed her Master Gardener training at the Calgary Zoo, and is now a member of the Master Gardeners Association of Alberta. From her previous experience as lead technician in an Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada plant breeding laboratory, managing documents assessing environmental impacts, and teaching university-level courses in the biological sciences, Ms. Stooke has become a specialist in simplifying complex information for use by technical and non-technical audiences. She can often be found in the garden, and she enjoys sharing her interest in plants whenever she has the opportunity.

Matt Davis (Tree Care)

Matt Davis is an ISA Certified Arborist, Journeyman Horticultural Technician and owner of Adair Tree Care Ltd. A tree lover in every aspect with over 15 years experience dealing with trees and shrubs in Calgary's landscapes.

Ken Fry (Insects)

Dr. Ken Fry is an entomology and pest management instructor in the Horticulture and Golf Course Management Programmes at Olds College. Ken also conducts research on integrated pest management, specifically biological control of the lily beetle and surveillance of invasive alien species affecting trees. Ken is a co-author, with Doug Macaulay and Don Williamson of "Garden Bugs of Alberta".

Mike Dorion (Lawn care)

Mike Dorion "aka the Compost Kid" loves food! Local grocery stores just cannot match the memories of tastiness from Grandma's garden. Many people from his generation have missed out on precious skills that were not passed down, so have to find other teachers. Starting with a Gardening class put on by the Calgary Horticulture Society, he became immersed. It continued with his Permaculture Design Certificate, SPIN Farming, Greenhouse Design, Herbology and mentoring on Soil and Soil Micro Biology. Mike is currently working on his Soil Food Web Advisor role with the Life in the Soil program put on by Elaine Ingham and sits on the board of Calgary Permaculture Guild.

Kath Smyth (Vegetables, Irrigation)

Horticulturist and "gardener at large" with the Calgary Horticultural Society (and a self-described "plantaholic" who says she should be barred from garden centres for her own good). Hailing from a long line of gardeners, Smyth has more than 40 years experience in the gardening industry.

Sara Smith (Communication)

Sarah M. Smith operates Rogue Naturalist and has given workshops on everything from effective interpretation strategies to exploring and applying theatre techniques to the trail or classroom. In the past decade, she has given workshops for Parks Canada, Calgary's Heritage Park, the Calgary Zoo, Interpretation Canada, the Smithsonian National Zoo, and has delivered programs on the topic of theatre as a teaching tool at numerous conferences.
Al and Pat Fedkenheuer (Wildflowers)
Dr. Al Fedkenheuer, our president, has been working with the reclamation of areas disturbed by pipelines, mining, wellsites and forestry for over 25 years. Al has a Ph.D. in forest ecology, M.S. in soils and a B.Sc. degree in agriculture. He is a Professional Agrologist, Registered Professional Forester and Professional Biologist in Alberta. his education in agriculture, forestry, soils, plant ecology, plus a farm background, have been integrated into his career in land reclamation and work with native plants. More recently he has also become involved with carbon sequestration in the agricultural and forestry areas. 
Pat Fedkenheuer, our Manager of Sales and Marketing, has been with the company since its' inception. She has excellent business experience as well as considerable expertise in the native plant area. You may have met her around the area working with school ground restoration, garden club presentations or at one of the local farmers markets.
Rod Olson (Fall Garden Tasks)
Rod Olson  is father to two beautiful girls and is a farm boy from the Camrose area.  He is a (semi-)professional chorister with a background in spiritual theology. Rod comes alive when nurturing life in both plants and people. He is filled with gratitude to be farming in Calgary having undergone back surgery in 2006. This embodied connection to the earth provides both renewed strength and a great sense of well-being. He is always ready for meaningful conversation connecting people with their highest potential. His particular interests in farming have to do with building vital soils and healthy microbiology that in turn produce nutrient dense veggies and the foundation of a healthy planet.
Bert Einsedel (Soil, Compost, Mulch)

Bert is a Master Composter who has given talks and workshops on soil health, composting, vermiculture, container gardening, and other gardening-related topics. He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Calgary on urban agriculture and sustainable food systems. He is a board member of the Varsity Community Garden and was on the board of the UofC Campus Community Garden and the Inglewood Community Garden. He retired from fulltime teaching and research in 2006 and is now Professor Emeritus in the Faculty of Extension, University of Alberta
