The Presentation: Olds College Botanic Garden and Treatment
Wetlands

The botanic gardens at Olds College are one of Alberta's best
kept secrets. Designed to support horticultural programs at the
College, they provide a unique resource to students and members of
the gardening community.
The original gardens cover 10 acres and in the 10 years since
their establishment they have matured into a diverse, vibrant
landscape. Each of the 20 specialty gardens is designed around
taxonomic, ecological, geographical or related theme, and includes
the Water Garden, Rose and Conifer Collections, All American
Selections Display Gardens and Herb Garden to name just a
few.
Soon to be opened to the public is a 25 acre site with botanic
gardens surrounding a series of 19 ponds designed to treat run-off
water from the college creating a unique blend of science and
nature. Visitors will be treated to an expanded collection of plant
material including wetland plants and species native to the Central
Parkland, and a mix of formal and informal landscaping with 1.3
kilometers of walking paths.
Join Jane and take a visual tour of these fascinating
gardens.
