                                          RAIN OR SHINE!

                            GARDENERS HELPING GARDENERS

In addition to our regular Members' only plant share, we are asking for donations of plant material for gardeners affected by the June flooding.

Plant Donations for the Flooded
Judging from the number of questions we received this summer, many Calgary gardeners were affected by the flood. In the spirit of sharing, we are extending Fall Plant Share to help gardeners affected by the flood:

When:  Saturday September 7, 2013, from 10:30 am to noon.

Where: A designated flood support area - located west of the area we host our plant share in the same green space at the corner of 50th Avenue and Stanley Road SW. Look for the signs.

What:  Experts will be on hand to answer questions and gardeners affected by the flood will have the opportunity to receive a donated perennial (or more) , while quantities last.   Our experts will provide Blue Tickets  that can be redeemed for a plant donations.

Members - How You Can Help
Dig up a plant (or two, or more) to be donated to gardeners affected by the flood.   All plants being donated are a gift and therefore no extra numbers will be added to your member's only plant share ticket.  At this time we are only accepting perennial plant donations.  We are not in position to accept books, tools or pots.
Bring your donation of plants directly to the designated Flood Support Area that will be located on the green space just east of the Plant Share site.
A tarp will be set up and you can place your plants there. Volunteers will be available to assist.
Label plants clearly - If you are not sure, volunteers will help identify the plants.
Donations will be accepted from 9:00 until 10:30 and earlier if you are volunteering.
If you know someone who has been affected by the flood, please share this E-news with them.

Society volunteers will be on hand to provide direction and assistance as needed.
Coffee, cookies/cupcakes will also be available for a loonie.
We do realized that some gardeners are still in the rebuilding phase of their homes and gardens and may not be ready for plant material. That's okay, we encourage people to come and get their questions answered.  We will plan to host another plant donation area during our Spring 2014 Plant Share held in May.  Details will follow closer to the day.

Your generosity is appreciated by the Society and we know will be appreciated by the gardener's whose gardens were affected by the flood.
